What you wear, will impact how you feel about your images after the shoot.
I would like to share my opinions about the outfits, what to wear for photoshoot, so you will look nice, beautiful, confortable and confident during photoshoot in Paris.
The important things to remember :
1. Be yourself, don’t dress yourself in a style that’s not ‘you’.
Start to know your body, if you are :
– small / short : Choose short dresses or dresses with high waist. Wear tight clothing, that can show off your lines and the shape of your body. Choose monochromatic outfit or same color clothes from head to toe, it creates one vertical line of colors and thus create illusion of height. Always wear heels to give extra height to your body.
– tall : if you are tall, you have more choices. Wearing high heels are not a necessity, you can always go for a medium high heels for a more feminine look.
– slim / skinny : things are much easier. But, if you are slim with no shape try to choose feminine outfit that will mark your waist.
– Fat : don’t choose large dresses / clothes in general. Choose bold or darker colors. The outfit doesn’t need to be super slim fit, just ensure that the clothing shows your shape and creates balance to your body.
2. if you are in couple, family or group of friends, coordinate the colors, choose a colour palette, and stick with it!
3. choose the colours that match with nature of locations, every country / locations, every seasons has own colours
Now let’s talk about the interesting part, so you have ideas and prepare what kind of outfits that suitable in every seasons in Paris for photoshoot.
4 seasons in Paris
AUTUMN / FALL (21 September-21 December)
Temperature around 5-21°C
The secret of French style, simplicity is key as is a “less is more” attitude. Their fall fashion staples are things like blazers, trench coats, heeled boots, and classic sweaters. They do very little pattern and buy mostly solids of black, grey, brown, cream and camel.
If you like more pop up colors, choose autumn palette colors
WINTER (21 December – 21 march )
Temperature around 2-8°C
Winter days in Paris are often gray and dreary and dressing can follow that in some cases. If you want to seamlessly get dressed in a way that reads effortlessly chic – stick to a monochromatic palette. White, Gray and Black work well together.
Hi.. how about Bright Pops of Color ? Yes… I LOVE bright colors for winter sessions! With backdrops being mostly more neutral (with snow maybe) or barren (empty tree branches), pops of color (think a bright colored coat, or a bright set of mittens, scarf, and hat!) can add lots of visual interest and “pop” to your images!
Balance Style with Comfort
Parisians tend to walk or Metro everywhere so comfort is of the utmost importance.
– layers : layering technic during the Winter, if it’s really cold, add a good base layer like a bodysuit under your sweater.
– Blazer or Wool Coat : Stay warm and complete your look with a stylish blazer or wool coat. Parisians love oversized wool coats and long wool coats. For a more elevated outfit, try a double breasted wool coat.
– Winter Accessories : do not forget hats, scarves, mittens, etc… it can be incorporated into your photos, and add warm during your session !
– Boots : A boot with a thicker sole or a moto boot is extremely popular in Paris. You’ll spot Parisians wearing them with mini skirts, jeans, trousers. For a more fashion forward outfit in the Winter, pack a matching set to be paired with knee or over knee high boots.
SPRING (21 March – 21 June)
Temperature around 5-19°C
Paris in the spring is a popular time to visit for many reasons. The weather finally breaks from the cold, and pink blossoms pop around the city.
Some ideas for spring photoshoot outfits : Flowy Dresses, it’s light, easy to wear, and will always look nice with the wind.
If you like soft and airy style, choose pastel colors mixed in with neutrals, like soft pink, shade of white, soft blue, it create the perfect palette to reflect the beauty of spring!
Do not forget bring a coat, and it’s a good idea to pack an umbrella (transparant or colour umbrella that match with your outfit), because you never know when a shower might pop up, even on the sunniest days. Rain or shine, your Paris trip will be a great time.
SUMMER (21 June-21 September)
Temperature around 13-30°C
I recommend choosing pieces that are both comfortable and stylish to help you beat the heat in style. Opt for a variety of items in light and neutral tones. Think beige, white, light grey, green, or blue, that can be easily mixed and matched.
