Capturing the Engagement of Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich and Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick in Valensole
Every year, I look forward to lavender season with so much joy. These magical weeks are when I get to meet people from all over the world and photograph them surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Provence’s lavender fields.
For 2025, I had scheduled my Valensole sessions between June 30th and July 14th. But a weeks before the season started, I received a special request from a client named Brian. He wanted to propose to his girlfriend on June 29th — a day before my planned sessions.
I absolutely love photographing surprise proposals. They are one of life’s most meaningful milestones, filled with emotion and raw beauty. So, without hesitation, I decided to arrive one day earlier to help Brian create an unforgettable experience.
Ahead of the session, I shared a detailed plan and tips for staging a discreet, paparazzi-style proposal. The night before, I visited the fields to choose the perfect sunrise location — one of my favorite moments I like to call the golden hour. I sent Brian the plan and crossed my fingers for beautiful light.
On the morning of June 29th, everything came together. As the sun began to rise over the endless rows of lavender, Brian and his girlfriend arrived in Valensole. Hidden between the blooms and with a drone flying above, I began photographing the moment.
And then, it happened — Brian dropped to one knee and asked his girlfriend, Jacqui, to marry him. It was romantic, emotional, and simply magical.
What I didn’t know at that moment was who I had in front of my lens: Fox News’ senior White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich and U.S. Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick. 1 week after the session, Jacqui shared their story with me — and I was genuinely touched and honored.
The images from that morning speak for themselves: timeless, full of light, and overflowing with love. It was a once-in-a-lifetime moment, and I’m deeply grateful to have been chosen to capture it.
