Versailles Surprise Proposal spots

surprise proposal at Garden of Versailles palace

After you book the session in Versailles, we can discuss about your surprise proposal plan. Here are some ideas for the beautiful spots in Versailles.

  1. Palace Garden, with the background of the palace

The best seasons is during late spring, summer and early autumn (May-September), because there is no flower during winter.

2. Latona fontaine

A masterpiece of Versailles Garden. Latona’s fountain was inspired by The Metamorphoses by Ovide. It illustrates the story of Latona, the mother of Apollo and Diana, protecting her children from the insults of the peasants of Lycia and pleading with Jupiter to avenge her. The god obliges by turning the inhabitants of Lycia into frogs and lizards.

3. The Orangery

The Orangery, which sits just below the Palace, make it one of Jules Hardouin-Mansart’s crowning achievements, demonstrating his talent as a great architect. Orange trees from Portugal, Spain and Italy, lemon trees, oleander, palm and pomegranate trees, some more than 200 years old, are all housed in the Orangery during the winter and spread out across its parterre in summer.

4. Temple of Love at Marie Antoinette Hamlet area

The Temple of Love is Neo Classical temple, sculpted from marble and houses a statue of cupid in 1788. Before the revolution, Marie Antoinette and her friends used to host parties in the gardens and plays were performed in the temple. Ideal for surprise proposal, because quiet spot and always beautiful in every seasons. The nearest entrance is from Petit Trianon

After Proposal, we can continue with couple photoshoot at Marie Antoinette Hamlet

5. Fresh Pavilion at Petit and Grand Trianon area

One of the hidden and quiet spot is Fresh Pavilion, built between 1751 and 1753, this new building on this small estate, desired by the King to get away from the constraints of the Court,  and served as a summer dining room where guests could “take fresh air” and enjoy produce from the nearby kitchen garden. This one-room pavilion was designed as green architecture and is entirely covered with green trellis.

Pink marbre corridor of Grand Trianon, normally busy with people passing by. So i am not recommande for surprise proposal, but very beautiful for couple photoshoot after proposal.

Pick a date!

Which session to take is really up to you.
Making nice pictures is also about enjoying the time, the air and the scenery.
Here are my suggestions from past sessions:

  • 1 hour should be enough for surprise proposal and quick coverage of the front garden / orangerie.
  • 1h30 if you want to explore more the garden, the labyrinth and the fountains.
  • 2 hours if you want to discover more of the hidden spots until the Apollo fountain, the boats & probably café shoot over there.
